Tulane University ranks among the nation’s top private Universities. While they are known for their Medical School, Law School and Business School, their unified commencement is in a class of its own. The Unified Commencement Ceremony honors the graduating students from all of the university's schools and colleges. The Ceremony, held on the floor of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, has featured US Presidents, world renowned musicians, film and television celebrities, and even the Dalai Lama.
In 2007, Tulane University approached Event Producers to create a set and take over production for their upcoming commencement ceremony. The design was to represent the image of the school, recognize the status of the honorees, fit within the scale of the massive Superdome and still provide an intimate and memorable "New Orleans" event for graduates and their families. Tulane felt that traditional pomp and circumstance was necessary, but that it needed some New Orleans flair. The university also wanted to make sure that those in attendance at the New Orleans Superdome felt as though they were on the campus.
We listened to our clients and recognized the importance of building, designing and delivering a next-level event. The result was a 40'x60' three dimensional scaled replica of the schools iconic 1800's stone landmark, Gibson Hall, as the stage set. We revamped the production with the same vigor; we upped the coverage to 6 cameras, added video servers, live streaming, LED Screens, content creation, intelligent lighting, multi zone audio, pyrotechnics and a 2000 beach ball and confetti drop. Today, the University regularly receives National Network coverage of its ceremony. While this ceremony represented the culmination of student’s time at Tulane University, it was just the beginning of our relationship with Tulane.
